What is the Training Philosophy & Process?
At Maatson Trucking School, our training philosophy focuses
on safety and driving skills through personalized, one-on-one
training (Spanish bilingual available) with extensive hands-on
truck driving You’ll gain the skills needed to pass the DMV road test and
earn your CDL. Step 1 begins with meeting a Maatson
Enrollment Specialist to discuss your goals and driving record.
Once enrolled, students follow the training journey detailed below.
- Obtain Drug Test and Pass.
- Obtain Study Materials from Maatson and take written permit test with DMV.
- Once Permit is obtained, begin lessons with Maatson Trucking School instructors.
- Pass school evaluation of “readiness” to take the behind the wheel DMV test for CDL.
- Upon passing school evaluation, schedule DMV appointment to take CLD test …… and pass!!!!
It’s important to train for your CDL exam for two reasons:
- The test itself can be extremely difficult to pass without the proper training.
- Many carriers won’t hire a candidate without proper training, even if you’ve passed the CDL exam.

Getting Started – What’s Involved

1st Step
Smeet with a Maatson enrollment specialist to understand our training program and discuss your desires and driving record. Come see the school and trucks. Meet the trainers. This is where you receive a free orientation about the training program and how to get started. This is a free session and is scheduled by appointment by calling the school or sending an email via our contact screen.

2n Step
DOT Physical – we can assist you and get you a certified DO doctor to get your physical and medical card.

3rd Step
Enroll with the school and obtain all the study materials to pass the DMV written test to obtain your CDL permit.

4th Step
Take and pass the DMV written test and obtain your CDL learner’s permit.

5th Step
Begin your hands on training with Maatson Trucking School in Ventura, CA.

6th Step
After success training – take test and pass the DMV skills test.

7th Step
With your CDL licenses – begin your career and Maatson can assist in connecting with local companies for the job hunt!
Payment Options
There are several payment options and payment plans available during the “first step” (orientation) you will have the ability to decide what best suits your financial needs and then enroll with the school.
Admission Requirements to train at Maatson Trucking School
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver’s license – class C
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical
- Must be able to obtain a commercial learner permit.
